Your first stop

Land in Fujian, settle in Qinghai

Direct flights to Xining are few and the distance is long, so most Taiwanese visitors land in Xiamen or Quanzhou first, spend a few days sorting documents, phones, banking and factory visits, then fly on. This page lays that route out.

  1. 01
    Land in Xiamen or Quanzhou

Xiamen Gaoqi airport sits on the island, about 10 km from downtown; Quanzhou Jinjiang airport is about 12 km from the city centre. The two are about half an hour apart on the Fuzhou–Xiamen high-speed line. First tasks: accommodation registration, a local mobile number and mobile payment.

  2. 02
    Finish your business in Fujian

Permit and endorsements, a bank account, factory and product visits, customer meetings. In parallel, lock in your Xining accommodation, premises and contacts online — do not wait until you land.

  3. 03
    Transfer to Xining

Flights from Xiamen or Quanzhou to Xining mostly involve one connection (via Xi'an, Chengdu or Chongqing); rail via Lanzhou is an alternative. The association coordinates airport pickup, your first week of accommodation and a park visit route around your flight.

Five questions before you book

Can I fly straight from Taiwan to Xining?

Direct services exist but are limited and timings may not suit; most itineraries still connect. Confirm current direct and connecting options, schedules and fares with the airline or ticketing platform.

How do I get the Taiwan Compatriot Permit?

Travel to the mainland uses the Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents. If you do not hold a valid one, a single-entry permit can be applied for at selected ports; check the National Immigration Administration and the port notice for ports, documents and processing hours.

How many days should I spend in Fujian?

Three to seven days covers documents, banking and factory visits; one or two days is enough for a pure transit. Save altitude acclimatisation for Xining rather than rushing your Fujian schedule.

What about luggage and the altitude?

Xining sits at 2,261 m with wide day–night swings. Bring a shell jacket or light down, regular medication, sunscreen and lip balm. Take the first two days slowly — water, no alcohol, no strenuous exercise.

What can the association do on the Fujian side?

To be straight with you: day-to-day matters in Fujian are handled by the local Taiwanese associations and public channels, and we do not promise beyond that. Our work is on the Xining side — accommodation, premises, park visits and government liaison, with someone meeting you on arrival.
